Moved back to CA and have a home on a Golf Course in Half Moon Bay to play golf
Wife refused to have lunch with me every day and told me to find something to do
Career Number 5 (Doctor Grip)
Took a job (minimum wage) at local golf store to learn the retail business
Started my own business (Doctor Grip LLC) selling grips out of back of station wagon
Moved into my garage for regripping and reshafting - too small and too close to my wife
Rented shop on Main Drag in Half Moon Bay - became too small again
Became partners with Taylor Made, Mizuno, Diamana and True Temper.
Moved to a driving range. Weather and dust conditions were terrible.
Found my fitting tent in a nearby tree a couple of times. Range balls were so bad I could not obtain accurate data.
Rented a 3000 square foot ware house to fit and build golf clubs.
Opened a real store front studio for fitting purposes.
Attended several advanced golf theory classes and still do.
Have all of the latest technical equipment (launch monitors, shaft lab, loft and lie machines)
Designed, developed, manufactured and sold my own set of forged cavity back irons called "Butler Irons"
Decided to concentrate on Miura line of forged irons. I now have RH and LH cavity back and blades.
I do not compete with retailers, sell off the shelf clubs or sell knock-offs
My clients are serious golfers and I help them become better, serious golfers.
I provide my clients with free grips and free loft and lie adjustments
The coffee pot is always on!
I am having more fun in my 5th Career than I ever had before.
